materials & techniques: 84 found saree strands stitched together on a ivory silk fabric
This saree is a culmination of 84 different strips of saree types from around India. India has more than 10,00 different types of weaving, dyeing, embroidery, and making styles for sarees based on the location of creation. However, today, most of these art forms have died out and gone extinct. Fragments of saree that have remained and survived these surges of colonialism and industrialization to make a saree which allows me to, in my own way, preserve bits of my culture.
